2009年adidas為歡慶經典三條線60周年慶，adidas Originals台北概念店於3月13日全面改裝升級，以創辦人Adi Dassler工作室為概念的”Atelier”「創作工廠」蛻變重現，當天並邀來網球傳奇Stan Smith蒞臨，Stan Smith是美國網壇的傳奇人物，與Bob Lutz所組成的雙人拍檔贏得許多重要賽事，也是adidas經典款式Stan Smith的代言人，自1971年以來三十餘年間已經衍生出難以數計的配色及款式，了以下為KENLU.net的專訪內容。

當年是如何與adidas開始合作的？ 在1965年的時候，adidas正要進入美國市場，而我當時在美國網壇闖出了一片天空，也就因此與我開啟合作的契機。 選擇與adidas合作的原因是？ 他們提供了我一個擁有簽名鞋款的機會（adidas Stan Smith），這在當時是個罕見的殊榮。我大部分的時間是與Horst Dassler，他是品牌創辦人adi Dassler的兒子，他擁有領先業界的運動行銷觀念，你可以見到其中有許多至今仍在使用。 對於冠有自己名字的鞋款有什麼感覺？ 感覺很棒！不過由於鞋子太出名了，有些人會認為我的名字來自一雙鞋子，或者我工作是製作鞋子。（笑） adidas Stan Smith已經成為了鞋款的經典，許多款式由此而衍生，甚至還有滑板鞋的款式，不曉得你對這個有什麼看法 這些款式的出現令我感到驚喜，這展現了品牌在維護與延續鞋款上的付出，我常常覺得直至今日仍在不斷發售adidas Stan Smith這件事有些不可思議，這就是沒有不可能的精神！ 話說回來，你有在玩滑板嗎？ （笑）沒有！ 我除了網球以外，以前也有玩過籃球，不過現在多半是打高爾夫球，打網球的時候，我會挑選現在比較多避震的款式，而不是穿著adidas Stan Smith就上場，倒是我有雙高爾夫球鞋是由Stan Smith的樣式而來。我的女兒跟兒子也跟運動有密切的關係，在UNC的女兒Austin是全美前三的網球員，不過兒子Ramsey卻在UNC對手DUCK大學擔任網球隊的總教練...... 最後請跟大家分享你的生活態度 熱愛每場比賽並從中得到樂趣！我常覺得我這輩子幾乎沒有工作過，辛苦的巡迴賽在我看來就是四處旅遊，並展現我最擅長的網球天賦。每個人都有不同的擅長之處，但無論如何你都應該珍惜他並好好發揮他。

How did the endorsement start? It is back in 1965 that adidas just start their business in the U.S. They came to me and that's how it began. Why adidas? Well, they gave me a shoe with my name on it. There's only few athelets has honor like this, and adidas is the adidas is the best company. I never had a chance to met adiDessler, but worked closely with adiDessler's son, Horst Dassler. He worked with many great athletes all over the world in that era. He is the guy who led sports marketing. What do you think about your shoe? It is great! Nowadays, some people even think I'm a shoe, or I make a shoe. Apparently, I'm not. (Laugh) adidas Stan Smith has become a shoe of classic that many other shoes comes after it. There's even a skate board version of it. What do you think? It's is something amazying and I'm happy too see it happen . This shows people how a brand, a shoe lasting. It's truly unbelieveable that they keeps making the shoe after so many years. I think impossible is nothing, right? You don't skate, do you? (haha) no. I used to play Basketball but mostly Golf now. I don't wear StanSmith for tennis now, I get some adidas trainers with more cushion. However, I do have a golf shoe with upper exactly to adidas Stan Smith. My daughter Austin studies in UNC and is now on top of nationally ranked tennis player. On the other hand, my son, Ramsey, is the current head coach for the men's tennis team at Duke University, which is rivals of UNC. What's your pholosophy? Love the game and have fun with it. Everyone has different gifts. What you should do is appreciate the talent and doing the best you can. I didn't work a single day in my life! I just travels around the world and play what I do the best, playing tennis.

About the player, Stan Smith Stanley Roger Smith (born December 14, 1946 in Pasadena, California) is a former American tennis player who, with his partner Bob Lutz, was one of the most successful doubles teams of all time. Together, they won many major titles all over the world. Smith also won many singles titles, including the Wimbledon championship once and the US Open championship once. In 1972, he was the year-ending World No. 1 singles player.

About the shoe, Stan Smith this shoe was produced in 1964 for French tennis star Robert Haillet. Unlike later models, it had a thick outsole no adidas trefoil on the heel and Haillet’s name was on the side. In 1965, American tennis pro Stan Smith came to the attention of Adidas.
