4年前在雅典，22歲的朱木炎成為台灣第一位贏得奧運金牌的男子運動員。但2005年及2006年的低潮，讓朱木炎猶豫究竟要不要繼續走這條路。背負著全國人民的期盼，以及挑戰「兩屆奧運、兩面金牌，沒有不可能」的夢想，朱木炎終於再度確立信念，全新投入訓練。也在2007年倫敦世界跆拳道錦標賽重返顛峰，勇奪金牌。北京奧運，將是26歲的朱木炎成為台灣不朽傳奇的最後舞台。
The 26-year-old was just the second Chinese Taipei athlete (and first male) to win an Olympic title when he took gold in the fly division (under 58kg) in Athens. That success turned Chu into a celebrity at home and though there was concern that his commitment had waned and that he might never return to that level of form, he has committed himself ahead of Beijing. His performances slipped in 2005 and 2006 but he bounced back last year with victory at the world championships in London and has secured his place for Beijing where he will seek to become the first Chinese Taipei athlete to win two Olympic gold medals.

Emotional, beautiful and still just 22, Yang is the antithesis of what you expect from a taekwondo athlete. She once considered a career on the stage but has now committed herself to sport. She won gold at last year’s world championships in London after which she shaved her head to demonstrate her new-found grit and determination. She is the Taiwanese woman with the best chance of a medal in Beijing at what will be her first Olympics games.
